The Skyline Kayak Experience was created for teams looking to step outside the ordinary and experience the city together in a more engaging and memorable way.

Starting from Ping Tom Park, this guided experience takes groups through the South Branch of the Chicago River toward downtown Chicago, where the skyline gradually opens up in front of the team as the experience unfolds.

Along the way, participants paddle together past bridges, architecture, and some of the city’s most recognizable landmarks creating a shared experience that feels active, rewarding, and uniquely connected to Chicago itself.

What to expect

Your team experience begins at Ping Tom Park, where participants are welcomed by our staff and guided through check-in and preparation before heading onto the river.

Each participant receives:

A kayak and paddle
A life vest
Basic kayaking instruction
Guided support throughout the experience

Before launching, the group participates in a short introduction focused on safety, comfort, and river navigation to help everyone feel confident before getting on the water.

Once the experience begins, teams paddle together along the South Branch route toward the Chicago skyline while guides help create a relaxed and engaging group atmosphere throughout the experience.

As the skyline appears ahead, the experience shifts from a simple paddle into something more immersive offering teams a rewarding and memorable perspective of Chicago from the water.

The route is intentionally designed to feel approachable for beginners while still offering a sense of movement, exploration, and accomplishment.
